I would like to know, what you think on adding Amazon Alexa to the study rooms at UHD?

She could help students with definitions, spell complicated words, set alarms, and potentially control the lights for students with full hands.

Answer

We appreciate your suggestion of including Alexa in our library study rooms. After discussing the issue we have come to the following conclusion - while Alexa may be helpful with spelling complex words, setting alarms, and controlling some of the features in our classrooms, the potential for disruption through excessive noise associated with its capabilities for music, commands to Alexa, and general volume control would make the situation difficult. Also, most of the library study rooms have thin walls and you can see how this might get out of hand very quickly and potentially lead to complaints by other students, faculty and staff.
