We have been assigned to research a company that has benefited in the long-term from using/implementing new technology so they become more productive

business and in essence re-innovate their services/themselves. My explanation is not that great, but hopefully you can assist with locating resources that can facilitate this type of research, so we can then make a good decision on which company to select. In the Question part, I've written United States Postal Service, but I'm afraid that they have not adopted any significant source or new technology that would/has made them better. It's a dying service and may not be around for much longer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Answer

I believe you can use the United States Postal Service for this assignment. However, if you want to use another company (there are many that will work) there are different ways to try and find one. Try clicking on Research Guides on our UHD Library homepage, then clicking on Guides by Subject, then clicking on Business, and then selecting Business from the list. You might try searching the databases Business Source Complete or ABI/INFORM Complete using the terms:

Reinvent AND Company AND "Information Technology" AND Innovative

Turnaround AND Company AND "Information Technology"

To find articles about companies that fit the profile you’re describing, you can narrow your results by limiting to full-text, or limiting the range of publication date, or limiting the search to peer reviewed journals. You can also limit to case studies to find articles relating to one specific company. You might try removing one or more of the search terms I used if you don't find something to your liking. If you want to find articles about the United States Postal Service you can substitute "United States Postal Service" or "Postal Service" for the search term, "Company," in the search string. If you would just like a list of companies that might trigger an idea for your research you could use the internet to find the list of Dow Jones Industrial Average component companies or the Nasdaq component companies. You could also build a list of companies from the Mergent Intellect database. In the Business research guide click on the "Company and Industry Resources" tab then click on Mergent Intellect. Once you choose a company you can use their name as an additional search term. Good luck in your research.
