Tobacco/Cigarette consumption

I am looking for historical statistical data on tobacco/cigarette consumption for an MBA Managerial Economics class. I was hoping for information on historical prices 2002-2011 and consumption levels for the same time frame.

I created the guide for your class at, but as you've probably found, it doesn't get you directly to all the information you need. What I've found after doing some research is that the U.S. government doesn't track as much information about tobacco as it used to. You might want to cover a different time frame possibly. But anyway, here's what I found.

The Center for Disease Control has a table about consumption of cigarettes at Also try the Tobacco Outlook report, which just goes to 2007, found at That report has some links you could follow that might get you to more current information. There is a USDA database where you could get more current prices on tobacco from an agricultural viewpoint at

Also try the database 'Statista' it is located on the research guide for this course also. Just search for "tobacco use."

Finally, I found an international report that may have some useful information at See if any of these things give you something you can use.
