I need assistance finding sources regarding U.S. student loan debt.

Answer

CQ Researcher is a good place to start.  See http://library.cqpress.com/cqresearcher/getpdf.php?id=cqresrre2011102100 for their overview of student debt issues.

For other sources, see our Business Research Guide at http://library.uhd.edu/business.

Under "General Business Databases/Journals," choose "ABI/INFORM Complete" or "Business Source Complete."

I searched for:  student debt

After you search, look for the "Source type" option on the side of the screen.  If you want to see only research articles, choose "Scholarly Journals" or "Academic Journals."  If you want to see only news articles, choose "Newspapers" or "Magazines."  See example 1 below.

If you only want to see recent analysis of the student debt crisis, look for the "Publication date" option and choose a recent range of date, e.g., 2010-2012.  See example 2 below.

You may also want to try our Education guide at http://library.uhd.edu/Education, particularly the ERIC database.

Other sources that could be helpful are:

Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Education
Search for:  student debt
Or search for: student loans
Or search for: "financial aid"

NCES Condition of Education - Sources of Financial Aid : Statistics on undergraduate receiving student loans, grants, etc.
