I'm researching how urban schools fall below average.

Some of my questions are: 1. How to find creditable articles about schools who are below average and ways to improve them. 2. How to find surveys done on urban schools. 3. How to find statistics on schools' standardize testing performance. 4. Research on how to get additional funding for schools.

Answer

Start your research on the databases page of the library’s Education Research Guide http://library.uhd.edu/content.php?pid=115736&sid=1002221. Try the Academic Search Complete database or the ERIC database. Once in a database, enter some of these terms into the search box:
“urban education”
“urban schools”
“education reform”
“achievement gap”
improvement

Back at the Education Research Guide, look for the blue tabs that say “Education Statistics.” On these pages you will find some helpful links for information and statistics on urban schools and measures being tried to improve them. Particularly, look at the National Center for Education Statistics linked from the Education Statistics tab.
