Q. I need to do a critical analysis of a recent research article in Sociology. How do I search for an article like this?
To find a research article for your sociology class start with the UHD Library home page at http://www.uhd.edu/library/, select the "Research Guides" tab, then click on the "Guides by Subject" link. On the next screen select "Sociology." You will be taken to the library's Sociology Research Guide. The first page contains a list of Sociology databases. You may want to begin with the database called SocINDEX. This database gives access to many sociology journals.
First, think of a topic you want to find an article on. Then, type the topic into the SocINDEX search box. In the middle of the page, under "Limit your results" select "Scholarly (peer-reviewed) journals" and click "Search."
Also, you can browse a specific journal. On the Sociology Research Guide, notice the boxes titled "Sociology Journals" and "Selected Sociology Journals" boxes. Select a journal title and then click a database link to access it. On the next screen you will be able to browse the journal by issue.
