I'm researching crime involving members of UHD community and non-members.

I was wondering if there are any statistics of incidents (violent or otherwise) involving members of UHD (students, falucty and staff) and non students (homeless individuals, people waiting for the light rail).

Answer

To find information on crime statistics and police operations at UHD, see the police Web page at https://www.uhd.edu/police-department/Pages/default.aspx. Not only does this have statistics, but it has an extensive annual security report.

You might also want to look at crime stats around UHD – see http://www.houstontx.gov/police/cs/stats2.htm Houston Neighborhood Crime Statistics.

If you have further questions not answered by the sources above, contact the UHD Police Chief, Michael Benford.

You might also want to look for some articles on urban campuses and crime – that might have some information about prevention if you’re interested in that. Start at our homepage at www.uhd.edu/library. Use the search box in the center of the screen labeled “LibSearch”. Enter “urban campus crime” into this search tool.

To make the list of results more manageable, use the “Refine your search” options on the left side of the screen. You can choose to refine by Content Type, Subject Terms, or Publication Date.
Another way to sort the information is by using the drop down box on the top right side of the results list that says “Relevance”. The default setting is to display the articles most relevant to your search terms first, but you may also sort the information by date (older to newer or vice versa.)
