Where would I find information on economic damage data, cost of flooding damages to hospitals, due to hurricanes?

I would recommend that you conduct a search of your topic in one or more of our news databases. Hurricanes that cause extensive damage, especially when the damage is to vital institutions, will likely receive wide news coverage. Our top news databases can be found in the library's News & Newspapers research guide. To access this guide, visit the library homepage at https://www.uhd.edu/library/Pages/library-index.aspx. Select the Research Guides tab>> Select Guides by Subject >> Select News >>Select News & Newspapers. You will be presented with a list of databases in the Current Newspaper Databases box. I conducted keyword searches in recommended databases and received some promising results. Try some of the following keyword searches:
Hurricane damage AND Hospitals
Hurricane damage AND Gulf coast AND Hospitals
You may even try some searches using the name of a specific hurricane, e.g., Katrina
Also, in the NewsBank Special Reports database, you may select the Natural Disasters category from the list of Featured Reports for information on some of the most recent storms.
As for statistical information, I suggest you take a look at the Statistical Abstract of the United States. To access this databases from the library's homepage, Select the Databases tab >> Select the letter S >> Select Statistical Abstract of the United States. Enter your search terms at the top of the page, e.g., Hurricanes.
Finally, I would also suggest that you take a look at the National Weather Service: National Data Web site here http://www.nws.noaa.gov/view/national.php?map=on for information.
