Q. I am looking for information about competition within the coffee industry in Trinidad and Tabago.

Answer

Information about “coffee in Trinidad & Tobago” is pretty limited.  However, there is information about related topics that might be useful.  I would start with the Business Cornerstone Research Guide.  Click on the tab labeled “Company and Industry Resources”.  Next, locate “Hoover’s Online”.  This is a great resource for company and industry information.  You should see a box labeled “Build A List”.  Locate the drop-down menu under “Add Locations”.  There two different searches you can try.  First, select “World Region” from the drop-down.  Next, type “Central America” in the box next to the drop-down.  It should appear as you start typing.  Once you have done this, locate the box to “Add Industries”. Type “coffee” in the box.  You will have the option of selecting either manufacturing, coffee services, or coffee shops.  Select the one that seems closest to what you need.  Click continue at the bottom of the search box.  This should provide you with a list of companies in the region that manufacture or distribute coffee.

The second search you can try is to choose “country” and type “Trinidad & Tobago” in the country box.  There are no coffee manufactures listed and only one Coffee Service.  Therefore, you will need to broaden your search to “beverage manufacturing” instead.  Between these two searches, it should give you a good idea of what the competition is and sometimes annual sales figures are provided.

There is another website that you may find useful.  The T&T government provides some trade statistics on their website.  I would take a look at the trade bulletins. You can find those reports here:

http://cso.planning.gov.tt/category/statistics-category/trade-statistics

There are more statistics located to the left of these reports.  You might find something useful in "Manufacturing Indicators" reports.
