Q. What is the best way to find scholarly sources on a medical topic?
Specifically, my topic is congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), and my assignment is to write an informative speech.
To find information on congenital diaphragmatic hernia, I suggest you start from the Library's home page at http://www.uhd.edu/library/ . Next, select the "Research Guides" tab and click the "Guides by Subject" link. Then select "Medicine and Health">>"Health and Medicine".
On the next screen you will see our Medicine and Health Research Guide. To find articles, go to the database called Academic Search Complete and type "congenital diaphragmatic hernia" in the search box using quotation marks. You will see a large number of results.
Use the options under "Refine your results" on the left sidebar: Full Text (to read articles immediately online), Scholarly Journals, change publication date. You can also explore other databases listed in the Medicine and Health Research Guide.
