Q. I'm looking for information on the availability of skilled and unskilled laborers in my country for the Business Cornerstone assignment.

Answer

Unfortunately there are no resources that I am aware of that specifically use the terms “skilled” and “unskilled” labor. However, there is information about different industries. From this information you can get a good idea about the skill of the labor force. There are some industries that you can assume are unskilled, i.e. agriculture.

There are two databases you should start with. The first is the CIA World Factbook. This will give you the percentage of workers in agriculture, industry, and services in your particular country. The second database is MarketLine Advantage. Once you find your country in MarkerLine Advantage, go to the economy section. This economy section goes into detail about what industries are strongest in each country. This information coupled with education statistics for your country should give you an idea about the skill level of the labor force.

Both the CIA World Factbook and MarketLine Advantage can be accessed through the Library’s International Business Guide.
