Q. I'm looking for information on how human activities affect the Gulf of Mexico.
There are a number of resources for information on environmental issues. Here are three good places to start.
1. The library has a research guide for Environmental Studies. To find the library research guides, start at the home page at www.uhd.edu/library, and find the tab for RESEARCH GUIDES in the center of the screen. Click the link for Natural Sciences, and then find the guide in the list for Environmental Studies. Included in this guide are the best databases for environmental research, books, websites, and more.
2. A good place to start research on any topic is with the library’s LibSearch tool found on the homepage at www.uhd.edu/library. LibSearch is a fast and easy way to search books, newspapers, journal articles and trade publications on any topic all in one step. It is a Google-like way to search our library’s collection. Enter you topic in the search box in the center of the screen.
Some suggested search terms:
“human activities” AND “Gulf of Mexico”
“human impact” AND “Gulf of Mexico”
3. The library also has a research guide for the Deepwater Horizon Gulf Oil Spill 2010 found here: http://library.uhd.edu/gulfoilspill. You may find some useful information here as well.
