Answer

There are ways to use video in Blackboard, but unfortunately you won't be able to upload a DVD into the course. There are some options for you to make this material available to your students.

If it is a hybrid course, you can put the item on course reserve in the library. Students can watch it in the library on one of our DVD players, in the computer lab, or as groups in the study rooms (if they have a laptop, which are available to check out from the Academic Computing Lab).  If you prefer, you can also make the DVD available for a 24 hour or 3 day check out period.

Depending on what DVD you are planning to use, there may be a streaming online version. You can search the Films on Demand database for online videos.

The best practice for directing student to videos is to give them the title of a video and the following instructions:

"Getting to your video:

·         From the University’s main page go to > Quick Links and select > Library

·         Locate the LibSearch box in the center of the library’s website – to the left you will find options (gray boxes) select > Databases

·         From the A-Z list select > the letter F

·         From the list of databases beginning with the letter F select  > Films on Demand

·         You are now in the Films on Demand database.  Copy and paste the title of your video in the search box at the top of the page. "
